Choosing plants

When choosing plants the following are the main considerations: light, moisture, temperature, wind, soil type. Choose plants which suit your conditions. Some plants called ‘hardy plants’ will thrive pretty much anywhere. However, ‘tender’ plants need more care and attention. It is good to have different points of interest in a garden. Choosing plants which flower at different times of the year, or plants with coloured foliage or whose foliage changes colour, will help achieve this.
